Only iDatalink-compatible aftermarket amplifiers (with embedded DSPs) can be installed with Maestro AR. However, the Maestro DSR1 can be installed with any non-DSP enabled aftermarket amplifier.

Yes. Maestro SW will retain steering wheel functionality when installed with most aftermarket radios equipped with an analog steering wheel input.

Radios with partial support will work to retain many of your factory features and systems using the included serial cable connection.  However, these radios lack the display screens for Vehicle Information, Climate Control, Parking Assist and Gauges.  No update to these radios is available to support these features.  For best results, choose a radio with Complete Maestro feature support.

Both the Maestro AR and DSR1 enable seamless amplifier replacement in select vehicles with highly embedded audio systems. Maestro AR can only be installed with iDatalink-compatible Kenwood and Audison amplifier/DSPs, while the DSR1, which combines Maestro’s AR technology with Rockford Fosgate’s DSP technology, can be installed with any brand aftermarket amplifier.

When installed with a Maestro RR, standard radios will typically offer basic audio feature retention such as steering wheel buttons and navigation outputs, while iDatalink-compatible Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer and SONY radios will offer complete retention of all infotainment features as well as display exclusive Maestro Gauges, Vehicle Info, Park Assist, Climate Control and other screens where applicable. Maestro dash kits are designed for select vehicle applications where the Maestro RR and iDatalink-compatible radios are leveraged to offer a superior look & feel and user experience. If we do not currently make a dash kit for your vehicle, it is likely because your vehicle does not require one when replacing the radio or adequate dash kit solutions are widely available on the market.

While impossible to determine ahead of installation for each vehicle, the Maestro RR will typically enable a subset of available gauges among the following:

  • Accelerator Pedal Position
  • Air Fuel Ratio
  • Average Fuel Economy
  • Battery Voltage
  • Boost/Vacuum
  • Distance to Empty
  • Engine Coolant Temperature
  • Engine Load
  • Engine Oil Temperature
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature
  • Fuel Level
  • Fuel Pressure
  • Instantaneous Fuel Economy
  • Intake Air Temperature
  • Intake Manifold Air Pressure
  • Mass Air Flow
  • RPM
  • Throttle Plate Position
  • Timing Advance
  • Torque
  • Transmission Fluid Temperature
  • Vehicle Speed

Maestro RR is compatible with most aftermarket car radios. It will retain basic audio features such as steering wheel controls and navigation outputs with most radios. However, it will only retain advanced audio features such as infotainment system and display exclusive Maestro screens with iDatalink-compatible Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer or SONY radios. Please use our fit guide to determine compatibility with your vehicle and radios.

Just like not all programs will run on every computer or operating system, not all solutions will work with every Maestro radio replacement module.  Some solutions exclusively require the Maestro RR2.  Additionally, in 2016, the Maestro RR was upgraded to include a CPU with twice the memory space, which was required to support added features in newer radios.  The older Maestro RR, indicated by 256 on the bottom label, cannot run the most recent applications because they will not fit into memory. To ensure full compatibility, the Maestro RR must be marked 512 on the label on the bottom.
